It’s fun when your family loves the outdoors as much as you do. We added in an extra Fall hike with our son and granddaughters at Plum Creek Park in Medina County, Ohio, in mid November. It doesn’t officially count for our Fall challenge because of the county difference but an extra is always okay when there are others to share it with.
There are several trails available but we took the .5 mile Deer Run Trail because the little ones were with us. Truthfully, I think they could have hiked the 1.5 miles of the Tulip Tree Trail easily, with us passed out in the leaves somewhere! HA! A great time was had by all. 🙂
Although this trail was completely leaf-covered, there are well-marked signs to guide you. There were a few moments where I wasn’t sure which way to go but our grandchildren made a game of finding the signs so we were never lost. They ran ahead with their trail maps looking for the wooden sign that pointed us in the right direction.
I didn’t take many pictures except the ones featuring the grandchildren, which I don’t put up on the blog, so I’m including a few shots of the view I think you’ll like. I love hollowed out trees, maybe because it reminds me of fairy tales and what may be living in there. That’s the featured photo at the top of this post.
I also love color and these berries drew me right in. I’m not sure what they are but they stood out against the grays and browns of late fall. The magnification brought out some green too so this makes me think of Christmas.
I love reflection of trees in water, especially at this time of year when there isn’t a lot of color. This little pond was a fun place to sit and photograph each other as well. There are some nice rock formations at the front of the pond and this is the view from the playground.
The trail goes down into a valley and then back up. It’s beautiful back in the woods and a good workout. I’d like to go back and hike the 1.5 miles Tulip Tree Trail next year. Great little park and we met some really nice hikers there who love their park with plenty of good things to say about it. I have to agree.
