Brandywine Falls in Autumn – CVNP

Brandywine Falls in the CVNP is stunning against the ledges and leaf color

We enjoyed a walk to Brandywine Falls at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park this past week. I love hiking in Autumn but this is the first one we’ve done this season. Mr. Carnivore isn’t up to hiking this year and I don’t like to hike without him. So, this little walk satisfied my itch and got us both out into nature for a little bit of photography fun.

Brandywine Falls in the CVNP is gorgeous with crisp water flow with fall leaf color changing around it.

The walk isn’t very far from the parking lot to the falls, but there are stairs. For those with a touch of vertigo, the railings are quite sturdy so they help ease the dizzy spells if you don’t look down into the valley while doing the stairs.

The view is spectacular from several spots on the walkway.

I also love the ledges which are along the walkway as well as across from where the water flows.

It’s even beautiful in the parking lot if you pay attention to your surroundings. There’s a convenient bathroom there so while you’re waiting for your companion, you can sneak in a few more shots of color.

After you get enough of viewing the falls, there is a trail that goes through this lovely area and over a bridge. I’ll save that for next time because we didn’t want to be hiking far in the waning light.

Brandywine Falls is a fabulous outing for the whole family. There are some picnic tables nearby so take a lunch or a snack and enjoy the scenery.

If you live in Ohio, take advantage of our National Park. There’s a nice gift shop at the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad depot behind the Winking Lizard in Peninsula. We grabbed lunch there which was economical and filling. I recommend the Greek Grilled Chicken Salad and the Turkey Noodle soup.

We’ve only just begun exploring the park and the places to visit while there. It’s not a one day outing. You’ll understand that once you see how beautiful it is and the variety of trails to follow.

More coming soon on our train ride through the park — another recommended day for family fun. We’ve done it twice and we will go back again as it’s a relaxing scenic trip.
